The decision to strengthen the presence of safety forces stems straight from political instability in Venezuela and the possible consequences of the American military operation in Caracas. This action was met with fierce criticism from the Brazilian government, including president Luiz Inácia Luli da Silva, who called it “an unacceptable violation of sovereignty” and “a dangerous precedent”.
