The robot named GoMate was presented on Thursday December 26 during a specially organized event in Shanghai. The robot in four-wheel mode is about 1.4 metres advanced and can climb stairs and slopes, as well as avoid obstacles. In two-wheel mode, it measures 1.75 metres and moves smoothly on flat surfaces.
Representatives of the GAC Group reported that the robot on wheels consumes up to 80% little energy compared to another humanoid robots, moving in a human-like manner. The company provides a wide scope of GoMate applications in areas specified as safety, healthcare and logistics, as well as in production facilities.
GoMate acts remotely and autonomously, utilizing artificial intelligence. The company claims that the robot has excellent efficiency in recognition, knowing and decision making. He'll decision like people.
The GAC will start mass production of the robot in 2025 after building in its own spare parts. For 2026 it was planned to produce a comparatively tiny number of robots. After performing appropriate tests in different environments and situations, the GAC Group will launch mass production of this machine.
The head of the investigation and improvement squad of the GAC Group on robotics, Zhang Aimin, reported during a presentation in Shanghai that GoMate could operate continuously for six hours powered by a full semiconductor battery. It's a battery developed by the GAC for electrical vehicles manufactured by the group.
The improvement of humanoid robots is progressing in China and the United States as a way to address labour shortages.
