LONDON- Global Airlines (G6) is in the final countdown to launch its long-haul service using a single Airbus A380 aircraft.
The new UK-based carrier will begin operations with 2 flights to New York (JFK)—one departing from Glasgow, Scotland (GLA), on May 15, and another from Manchester (MAN) on May 21.

Interior of Airbus A380
James Asquith, founder of Global Airlines (G6), recently shared images and video footage revealing the interior of the company’s first aircraft, registered as 9H-GLBL.
The superjumbo, originally delivered to China Southern Airlines (CZ), underwent exterior painting in Portugal, where it received Global Airlines’ livery.

The interior images show that while the basic cabin layout from China Southern Airlines (CZ) has been maintained, Global Airlines (G6) has refreshed the aircraft with new upholstery and carpets featuring the company’s colours and logo.
One notable new feature mentioned by Asquith is the “Sky Pub,” though specific details about this amenity weren’t provided.
Supply Chain Challenges
Addressing potential criticism about the limited extent of the interior changes, Asquith explained industry-wide challenges affecting the retrofit process.
“Supply chain issues are hurting everyone, and I think it’s clear that any airline launching a new cabin is being hit with extensive delays, that is industry-wide, and we faced delays on materials ourselves,” he stated in a social media post.
Asquith added: “Regardless, I’m proud of what we have done in a short space of time, and of course, this is just the start for us. Remember the first product on Virgin in the early days…it only got better and better with time.”

Operations Under Hi Fly Certificate
For its initial flights, Global Airlines (G6) will not operate under its own Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
Instead, the A380 operations will be handled by Hi Fly (5K), a Portuguese airline specialising in ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) services until Global Airlines (G6) completes its certification process.
The airline continues ticket sales for its inaugural flights while racing to complete the aircraft’s interior modifications before the mid-May launch date.
