You're fortunate I killed your parents, you'll get compensation. - said to his victims' son.

9.06.1926 was born Jerzy Vaulin. manager and documentaryist, frequenting the salons of PRL and IIIRP.

Murderer of Major Anthony Żubrid and his wife, Janina.

A crime communicative without punishment

It's the summertime of 1946.
The erstwhile AK soldier from Podkarpacie, and now a student of Wroclaw University of Technology, is put in the hands of UB. There was no request for pressure, to persuade him to cooperate was rather simple. A recently acquired agent takes a pseudonym "Moskit".

That's George Vaulin..

During this time on Podkarpacie operates the Independent Operational Battalion NSZ "Zuch", commanded by Major Antoni Żubrid (photo). It fights UB, CBW, protects the population from UPA. He besides eliminates 1 of the highest ranks of Soviets killed by the underground - Colonel Teodor Rajewski.

The Communists are trying to destruct "Zucha" in all way. They're going very far. In May and June, they hold a public execution of NSZ soldiers in Sanoku at the stadium and on the market, for which they even spend their children. No luck. So they decide to subdue an agent to the branch.
"Moskit" rapidly gains the trust of the squad and the commander. After all, he's an old guerrilla from here. He becomes 1 of Żubrid's individual bodyguards. In October 1946, the division's fight is over... Żubrid plans, with his family, to travel to the West, through Austria.

26.10.1946 Antoni Żubryd, his wife Janina (both in the photo) and Vaulin halt for accommodation in Malinówka, in a grove run by Mr Gerlach. Under the pretext of uncovering a fresh way across the border, Vaulin pulls out of the Żubrid from the grove. They go into the woods at 7:00.

Antoni Żubrid didn't fishy anything. In the woods, Vaulin will shoot him, cowardly and by surprise, in the back of his head. And then he'll go back to the gallows and ask Gerlach and Janina if they heard the shots. Lying that Communist troops are supposedly raiding the area.
Janina Żubrid says his husband is waiting in a fresh safe house. They're going into the woods. He's killing her the same way-- shot in the back of the head. Janina was 8 months pregnant.. In the morning Gerlach finds the body of Vaulin's victims. Robbed of weapons and jewelry. Their bodies will then take over UB.

Agent Vaulin was led by later General Władysław Pożoga. The order to execution Żubrid confirmed in the book "Seven Conversations with the General of Division W. Pożoga...". He then sent 120 men to arrest his mother-in-law, aunt, and 5-year-old boy of Żubrid (the youngest prisoner of the Polish People's Republic).

With the support of security, Vaulin's PRL has a career. He is the manager of 20 feature and documentary films. A winner of many awards. A friend of the artists. No 1 knows anything about his past.
After 1989, questions begin to arise. Vaulin, in Electoral, pleads guilty to murder. But he made up his version - he acted in self-defense, due to the fact that Żubrid was about to discover an agent in him and planned to destruct him. The elite are on his side. Including Andrew Wajda...

"I stuck to him, and he pushed me distant from himself to have area to shoot. That's erstwhile I got my weapon out first! Bach! I shot twice, the weapon worked. He fell over and roared...And then I felt victory" That's how he described it in an interview.

“These words are drawn by a man who, half a century ago, took the life of your parents” In 1997, Vaulin will appear at the home of the boy of Żubryd (in the photograph, as a child), giving his wife a letter. The killer's letter to the victim's son. He'll repeat his story. He'll almost brag about the crime.

A movie about Vaulin was made: "Letter to Son". The question of why he murdered the Zubrids answers: "maybe from sadism, or do I like killing people?"
Vaulin blocked his broadcast on TVP. He pointed out that... he didn't get royalties for utilizing the letter he wrote.

In 1999, the trial begins. Vaulin's self-defense version was disproved. Based on photos of the bodies of Antoni and Janina Żubryd, who performed the UB, the experts determined that they were shot in the back of their head. Nevertheless, the court dismissed the proceedings. Vaulin's crime was considered a statute of limitations on common crime.

Jerzy Vaulin died in 2015. He was buried at Brodnowski Cemetery in Warsaw .
The remains of Antoni and Janina Żubryds murdered by him have not yet been recovered. They were most likely buried somewhere in the castle in Rzeszów.
