The German Ministry of abroad Affairs advocated returning to 3rd countries those persons whose asylum applications were rejected.


The German Government is in favour of expanding the number of deportations. Home Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) moves on to concrete terms and talks about the beginning up of fresh possibilities to mention more asylum seekers whose applications have been rejected. "Models with 3rd countries may be an option," he said in "Welt am Sonntag": "If people cannot be deported to their home countries, this does not mean that deportations to another safe regions are excluded".

Less restrictions on deportation


The alleged connecting element, i.e. the essential individual link between the migrant and the 3rd country, has just been abolished, added the Minister, referring to the appropriate arrangement among the heads of EU Home Affairs Ministers this week. "So far this required the existence of a person's connection to deportation with a 3rd country. This necessity has now disappeared, which creates fresh opportunities," Dobrindt said.

He besides announced a fresh approach to the assets of Ukrainian refugees: "The basic rule is that first you should usage your own assets before you can benefit from state aid". As Ukrainians are now treated legally like another asylum applicants, not only will the aid be reduced, but besides the alleged protected property will fall to EUR 200: "Cars or costly watches far exceed this amount and are so considered assets. Local authorities decide whether there truly is simply a request (help)".

EU for the improvement of the Convention on Human Rights


Dobrindt besides commented on the debate on the improvement of the European Convention on Human Rights. "I imagine that there may be clear positions from politicians that could form the basis for future decisions of the European Court of Human Rights", he stressed.

On Wednesday, 46 associate States of the Council of Europe agreed that by 2026 they would make a political message on migration issues and the European Convention on Human Rights. 27 countries, including Italy, the United Kingdom, Austria and Denmark, are now in favour of stricter rules. To date, the convention has prevented the deportation of even the heaviest criminals if they are threatened by inhuman or degrading treatment in the mark country, which may besides include deficiencies in the wellness system. Compliance with the Convention is supervised by the European Court of Human Rights.
