German Home Secretary Alexander Dobrindt intends to arm police officers nationwide in paralysers to fight more effectively criminals armed with gun-putting — said paper minister Berliner Morgenpost.

"I will make certain that the national police are equipped with tasers sooner alternatively than later, and the essential legal framework has already been developed this year," he said.

According to Dobrindt, police should "neutralise criminals with stab and cutting weapons specified as knives more effectively".

"The usage of paralysers is an appropriate way to respond to an increased threat to police in public places," he added.

Currently, police are only equipped with paralysers in selected national states. Recently, the number of attacks with knives has increased in Germany.
