The argument is primarily about logistics and the velocity of maintaining the operability of combat vehicles. In the realities of exercises on NATO's east flank - and even more so the hostilities in Ukraine - it becomes operationally inefficient to transport damaged tanks to plants in Western Europe and wait for months for repairs.
