George Clooney didn't bite his tongue about Kamala Harris. "It was a mistake"

George Clooney, not only known as an actor and director, but besides an activist and politically active person, in a conversation on the program "CBS News Sunday Morning" admitted he did not regret his loud column in which he urged Joe Biden to retreat from the 2024 presidential election. Today, however, he believes it was a mistake to entrust the function of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.


When asked if he would compose this article again, George Clooney replied, "Yes. We had a chance. I wanted the primaries to be held, as I wrote in this column. Let's test it rapidly and decision on with the campaign."

The then president Joe Biden yet withdrew from the race in last year's election, and the Democratic organization candidacy was entrusted to Vice president Kamala Harris. However, the politician failed to defeat Donald Trump, who was elected for a second word after a fewer years' break.

According to Clooney, Kamala's candidacy was "a mistake due to the fact that she had to face her own gain". – It is very hard if the main message of the run is: "I am not that person". It's hard, so she's got an incredibly hard job. Honestly, I think it was a mistake. But we're where we are. They say we were gonna lose more seats in the home of Representatives anyway. So I don't know. If I hadn't, that would mean I'm not telling the truth."

Let us remind that Clooney has become a symbolic "face" of the movement calling Biden to resign after his fatal performance in the first presidential debate with Donald Trump. "Moreover, we will not hold the home of Representatives and lose the Senate. It's not just my opinion – it's the opinion of all senator, congressman and politician I've talked to privately. Everyone, no substance what they say publicly," wrote the Oscar actor and director.

After publication, Clooney met with a wave of criticism, but – as he said in an interview with Jake Tapper at CNN – he does not regret his position.

– That is the deal – if you believe in something, you must take a position. Take them, stick to them and then face the consequences. They're rules. So erstwhile people criticize me – they besides criticized me for opposing the war 20 years ago, they picketed my films, put me on playing cards – I gotta accept that, that's fair. I don't have a problem with that. I accept criticism for my views. I defend their right to criticize me as much as their right to criticize them," said Hollywood star.
