General nominations for the Polish Army Festival

President Andrzej Duda appointed 19 officers of the Polish Army to general ranks – the National safety Office reported. For six officers it will be another general nomination, while thirteen will receive the first general star. Acts of appointment will be presented on 14 August at the Presidential Palace.


The National safety Bureau informed of president Andrzej Duda's decision to nominate General. There are 19 names on the list of promoted officers. The Armed Forces Commander shall appoint the General rank at the request of the Minister of National Defence. According to tradition, the celebration of the appointments is part of the celebration of the Polish Army. This year it will be held on 14 August at the Presidential Palace.

By decision of the President, General Stanislaw Czosnek, Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Polish Army, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. A soldier's officer began his service in 1982 as a subordinate to the Higher School of Officers of the Armed Forces in Wrocław. He graduated from, among others, the National Defence Academy, the French Staff School and the National Defence University of Beijing. During more than 40 years of military service, he held work positions in the Kraków Military District, the Air-Mechanized Corps, the 1st Armored Brigade in Wesoła and the 11th Lubuska Armoured Cavalry Division. In 2014, as part of the Polish Military Quota in the muslim Republic of Afghanistan, he served as deputy commander – a group of deputy commanders of the east ISAF region.

From November 2021 to June 2024 he was Commander of the Center for Land Operations – Commander of the Land Component. At that time, between 2022 and 2023, he was at the same time the Commander of the European Union Operations Command (OHQ). As of 1 July 2024, he was appointed Deputy Head of the General Staff of the HR.

The officer is awarded the Star of Afghanistan, the Golden Medal of Merit for the defence of the Country, the Golden Medal of Armed Forces in Homeland Service and the Silver Medal for Long Service.
