General Jakub Jakubczyk, an experienced officer of the Polish Army, referred to the decision to dismiss him from global Military Staff at NATO Headquarters. In his message he expressed deep concern and appallation the charges against him which he found unwise and amicable in his good name. Jakubczyk stated: “I do not know why you are trying to make a scandal game around me and thus destruct me as a soldier and a man.”

Charges and reaction of MON

On Saturday, the paper “Rzeczpospolita” reported that NATO allies asked to change the Polish officer in the global Military Staff, General Artur Jakubczyk. He was accused of "favouring" people from Poland, as well as "homophobic" and "racist" behaviour. The editorial “Rz” asked the Ministry of National Defence (MON) for a position on the matter. MON replied laconically: “At this minute we will not comment or address your questions.”

Communication from the Ombudsman

On Saturday, the spokesperson for the MON, Janusz Sejmiej, issued a communication on the case of General Jakubczyk. "I inform you that following the ally's request there is simply a procedure for recalling Brig-Gen A. Jakubczyk of the global Military Staff at NATO Headquarters. Unfortunately, this is another terrible personnel decision of our predecessors" - said the Sejm.

Statement by General Jakubczyk

General Jakubczyk referred to the information provided by “Rzeczpospolita” through the Facebook portal. He wrote that the information about his cancellation was given erstwhile he was on vacation outside Poland, which prevented him from reacting immediately to the charges he had made publicly. Jakubczyk noted that the charges were curiosistic and unwise. He besides stressed that he was not given access to the documentation underlying the decision of the Minister of National Defence to revoke his current position.

The general wrote: “No 1 has contacted me about this. To my knowledge, my direct superiors in the Joint Intelligence and safety Department (JISS) in NATO are besides amazed by the decision taken by the Polish Minister of National Defence. In my opinion, the charges I'm being charged with are very ridiculous and agree with my good name. I do not know why you are trying to make a game of scandal around me and thus destruct me as a soldier and a man.”

Experience and merit

General Jakubczyk emphasized his many years of military experience and many merits in global structures. "I am a soldier with many years of experience. While serving in global structures, including 3 times in war missions (Iraq, Afghanistan), I have repeatedly been rewarded for my safety work, both ours The country as well as global security," wrote the general.

Summary

General Jakubczyk's case is complicated and controversial. His cancellation from NATO global Military Staff has sparked many reactions both in Poland and among NATO allies. General Jakubczyk firmly rejects all charges he considers unfounded and detrimental to his reputation. As he claims, he did not have the chance to read the papers underlying the decision to revoke it, which further complicates the full situation. This will surely continue, and its improvement will be closely monitored by both the media and the public.
