The case of awarding General Pavlo Szandruk, commander of the Ukrainian National Army, with the Order of Virtuti Militari in 1961 has been described many times. It was accompanied by a large brawl and bidding for actual Polishness. In the context of fresh events, however, it is worth returning to it.
