Polish armed forces undergo the biggest transformation in their history. General Wiesław Kukuła announced during his Wednesday speech at the European Forum of fresh Ideas in Sopot that as many as 150 modernisation programmes were open.
"The effect of this transformation is to be something that is now called fashionablely - a fresh device of Poland" - said the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The name refers to the "old device of Poland", i.e. the military organization strategy from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries, which provided protection of the country's sovereignty.
Seven directions for military development
Transformation is based on the alleged large 7 - 7 key directions of improvement of the armed forces. The first component is the construction of an "intelligent mass" of soldiers with profiled talents.
"Innovation is present a weapon that kills enemies more effectively than established doctrinal patterns. We are to be a mass of individually profiled talents with highly developed competences" - emphasised Gen. Kukuła.
The second pillar is multi-domain operations that focus not only on the conventional sea, air and land, but besides in space, cyberspace and cognitive zone. The 3rd component is the deterrence of the opponent by demonstrating strength and the anticipation of a penalty.
Air domination and reserve readiness
Poland will make dominance in the air, including through F-35 aircraft. It is besides planned to build an anti-access strategy to shoot down all Russian drones, aircraft and rockets in Polish airspace.
The 5th precedence is simply a fresh model of maintaining the readiness of individual reserves, which is intended to multiply the individual states of the peace period. "The defence war of Ukraine reminded that the numbers matter, that quality is not always a value greater than the quantity, that only the combination of quality and quantity allows us to multiply our war capacity" - explained the head of the SG WP.
The military will besides focus on droneization, robotization and the implementation of artificial intelligence, which will increase the quality and velocity of analytical and decision-making processes.
Four vectors of Russian thinking
Gen. Kukuła besides analysed the strategy of the Russian Federation, pointing to 4 vectors of its thinking: intention, strength, chance and unpredictability. Russian intentions are openly communicated by president Vladimir Putin.
The force vector is "currently steeped by Ukraine's opposition and the solidarity of Ukraine's support by the global community". Despite the usage of resources, Russia is rebuilding through a plan to grow the armed forces to 1.5 million soldiers.
Russia can take advantage of the opportunities resulting from the weakening of allied ties or the outbreak of the Pacific War. Unpredictability results from a possible misassessment of the situation or management of the adverse interior situation in the authoritarian regime.
The 14th edition of the European Forum for fresh Ideas began on Wednesday in Sopot, where safety and defence are key topics of discussion.
