From the camp in Toruń to the oath in Inowrocław

More than 70 soldiers of basic training 8 Kujawsko-Pomorskie Territorial Defence Brigade completed a tactical loop on Thursday 23 October 2025, taking their first military exam. This allowed them to join the ceremonial military oath, which they made on Saturday 25 October in the area of the 82nd Light Infantry Battalion in Inowrocław. This was at the same time the last of this year's vows in the ranks of 8 K-PBOT.

Tactical loop

During their first major test, soldiers carried out tasks, among others, in the field of protection against contamination — including the putting on of a gas mask on time — and the transportation of ammunition to the front edge of the defense. The key component was the shooting of the MSBS Grot. All examination tasks were performed during the march on a distance of respective kilometres at the Toruń camp. The full was a summary of 16-day basic training.

An oath pass

The successful passage of the loop enabled soldiers to have the privilege of declaring a military oath. This was the last of the 8 K-PBOT soldiers this year. The ceremony was attended by families, close to fresh territories and invited guests. In a speech to the sworn Commander of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Brigade, Colonel Marcin Dojas stressed:

“Today is the minute erstwhile you become part of our large military family. In our ranks you will find support, relationship and respect. Together we are an invincible squad ready to face all challenge of fate."

At the same time, more than 70 compensatory training soldiers — the alleged ‘eights’ — besides joined the Brigade. They are volunteers who have previously performed various forms of military service and have already taken their oath. As they join the WOT, they undergo eight-day compensatory training to familiarize themselves with equipment and light infantry tactics. Then, like soldiers after primary training, they carry out a 3 - year rotational training cycle, maintaining readiness to act in their permanent area of responsibility.

Tasks and erstwhile engagement 8 K-PBOT

Soldiers of the Territorial Defence Army are trained and kept ready to support the population and administration in crisis situations — from natural disasters, by search actions, to consequence to military threats in their Permanent work Divisions. The current tasks of 8 K-PBOT included support of services during the pandemic (Operation "Sustainable Immunity"), assistance of refugees arriving with the war-torn Ukraine (Operation "Reliable Assistance") or anti-crisis actions during the flood (Operation "Feniks"). The brigade besides regularly participates in anti-crisis exercises, training with another departments of the Kujawsko-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
