As of 6 May, fresh transfer limits in the iPKO. PKO BP amends the Regulation

PKO Bank Polski reported that 6 May 2025. fresh rules will enter into force on transfers carried out via iPKO net banking. Changes are intended to increasing client safety in the face of an expanding number of cybercrime attacks. The most crucial news will be change the default limit of regular transfers to PLN 10 thousand, with the anticipation of expanding it individually.

New iPKO rules: what changes?

As announced by PKO BP, the fresh version of the electronic banking regulations will apply 6 May 2025. A key component of the changes are the fresh regular limits for transfers made in iPKO:

  • Default regular limit: PLN 10,000
  • Maximum possible regular limit: 300 000 PLN

If the client had a higher default limit, the bank automatically reduce it to PLN 10 thousand. However, this change does not mean limiting access to larger amounts – the user can himself increase the limit to maximum, provided that additional safety requirements are met.

How do I rise the limit? Key function of safeguards

According to the information provided by the bank, maximum limit of PLN 300 thousand will be available only to those customers who usage circumstantial authorisation tools and additional safety features. The conditions for reaching the highest limit are:

  • Use mobile authorisation in application IKO
  • Active service additional login securitywhich analyses the behavioral characteristics of the user

For those in request even higher limits than PLN 300 thousand, it will be possible individual determination conditions with the bank.

Safety first – PKO BP responds to threats

Changes in the rules are the next step of PKO BP towards strengthening client protection from cybercrime. As he emphasizes Michał Marzyński, manager of the Digital Services Department at PKO BP, the bank does not want to restrict the freedom of customers, but to supply them with safe tools for managing your finances:

"In a time of increasingly brazen cybercrime attacks, we do everything we can to aid our customers defend their savings. (...) This is why we give customers a safe and convenient chance to change the limit and adjust it to their own needs”, says Maciejński.

Other activities of PKO BP for cybersecurity

PKO The Bank of Poland has been investing in solutions that increase safety in electronic banking for years. In fresh months, among others:

  • Security key support login
  • Advanced login security on iPKO
  • Verification of the identity of the bank staff member during telephone conversation with the client (function available in the IKO application since 2022)

The bank besides operates educational activities, especially for those little digitally qualified, specified as seniors. Standing meetings with experts and information campaigns on the net and social media are aimed at increasing awareness of threats and countering fraud.

What's next?

PKO BP announced that in the fresh version of the Regulation there would besides be another mechanisms to increase safety, which it will inform in item in the coming weeks.
