In the first weeks of his term, Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) made 8 trips abroad, and in Berlin he received, among others, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli president Yitzhak Herzog. This global activity is intended to enable Germany to return to the group of countries deciding about the safety of the Old Continent and to take on a leadership function in the EU, as well as to improve relations with the administration of US president Donald Trump.
