Friday after God's Body free of school? There's a bill. The workers will not "bridge"

gazeta.pl 1 week ago
Soon we will celebrate the feast of God’s Body. Many people have a long weekend, including students, if the school uses alleged chief days. It's harder for parents due to the fact that they gotta take leave. However, this may shortly change in the benefit of employees. It's up to the president.
Some time ago, the Polish President's Office received a petition for changes in the number of public holidays. More specifically, the author wants the list to be followed by six more, including Friday after God’s Body. Many workers then take leave or false medical leave, so in practice in Polish companies already have an informal "June", so it may be time to sanction it?

Friday after God's Body free? Not only that. The petitioner has ambitious plans on this issue
The petitioner wants six more to be added to the list of public holidays:

Great Thursday,
Good Friday,
2 May ( Flags Day)
Friday after God's Body,
2 November (Soul Day),
December 31 (Sylwester).

The petitioner wants the listed days to be legally free and for a reason. First of all, they are free in schools and kindergartens, which forces parents to take leave of absence. Only that it is not always possible, so many people then "bridge", means take left L4. And that's a large problem for your employer. The second argument of the petitioner is the hard access to work. "In public transport usually: 2 May, 31 December, Friday after God's Body as a regular day between 2 days off e.g. (holy, Saturday, Sunday) Saturday schedules apply" - reads the petition.

Can Friday, after God’s Body, be legally free? There's a good chance.
For Friday, after God’s Body (and not only that) to be legally free from work, there are besides specialists. "There are calculations that all day off from work is the cost of respective or even respective billion zlotys. However, these costs appear to be inflated. After all, even if there is simply a day off, it is not for everyone - e.g. uniform service or doctors must work. In addition, there are fewer establishments that work at 100% for 7 days a week" - explains Marek Zuber, economist, in an interview with the website Fakwa.pl. Consequently, the chances of the list of public holidays being extended are rather considerable. Especially since the President's Office has to consider this petition and the president has 2 options - to bring a legislative initiative or to mention the substance to the competent authority, e.g. the Ministry. Which 1 will he choose? For now it is unknown, we must wait until Karol Nawrocki takes office, which will happen on August 6.
