France sent 15 soldiers to Greenland as part of a preparatory mission and joint exercises organized at the request of Denmark.
The information was confirmed on France Info by French diplomat Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, identifying military presence as a ‘essential political signal’.
According to the BFMTV portal, the French division is already in place. The decision to participate in the exercises was announced by president Emmanuel Macron at night, announcing that more soldiers would arrive on the island. Details of the mission are to be presented to the public erstwhile the president speaks before the armed forces.
