The French abroad Minister Jean-Noel Barrot will visit Israel on Friday with an unplanned visit as part of efforts to reduce tension in the region and bring about a ceasefire in Lebanon.
The French MFA reported this in a statement.
Israel has so far rejected the proposals for direct talks with Lebanon, claiming that this is simply a late and insufficient motion from a country that shares the desire to disarm Iran-supported Hezbollah, but is afraid that a message against this organization would lead to civilian war, stated Reuter's agency, citing sources oriented in the situation.
