France withdraws from Mali and goes west of Africa [ANALYSIS]

Operation Barkhane began in August 2014, and was a continuation of Operation Serval, targeting the structures of al-Qaeda muslim Maghreb. The main nonsubjective was to support local military forces in the fight against terrorism, coordination of an global coalition and support of humanitarian action for the benefit of local society. Now after nearly a decade, France is backing down and its military presence in Mali has become illegal according to the authorities there. However, E. Macron amazed and stated that the French would strengthen their presence in the coming months in the west of the continent.
