A multi-thousand demonstration of support for French politician Marine Le Pen took place in Paris. The protest participants opposed a court ruling which de facto prevented the leader of the National Unity from taking off in the 2027 presidential election.
At Vauban Square in Paris, there was a demonstration of supporters of Marine Le Pen, who demanded the restoration of her active electoral law. In fresh days, a politician has been convicted by the court for alleged embezzlement and illegal usage of EU funds. Le Pen was expected to usage it to pay for his co-workers, who, although they were expected to work in the European Parliament, actually worked for Le Pen in the French National Assembly (Parliament).
The manifesto in the capital of France brought together many thousands of participants who took the French flags with them. During her speech, Marine Le Pen said that she would not quit and despite being found guilty of embezzlement of European Union funds, she would proceed to fight for justice. She besides stressed that the judgement was a political decision to guarantee that she did not take part in the presidential election. According to erstwhile polls, she was the main candidate for triumph in 2027.
The National Unity political organization called on all its supporters to mobilize and attend this demonstration and the future that will take place in Paris and another cities. It has been pointed out that "freedom must be defended, democracy saved and Marine supported".
"This is not a judicial decision, this is simply a political decision," she said during the Marine Le Pen demonstration. She besides stressed that she was protesting against the “witch hunt” to be an effort to discredit her herself and her political formation.
Let us remind that Marine Le Pen has been convicted by the Paris court for utilizing more than EUR 4.5 million from the European Parliament. The money was to be spent on paying the employees of the Euro MP Marine Le Pen, who would work in Strasbourg. However, the court concluded that the funds were to be utilized to pay the assistants working de facto for the National Unity Party.
The court sentenced Le Pen to 4 years in detention for 2 years, to home arrest. A fine of EUR 100 000 was besides paid. The case-leading judge, Bénédicte de Perthuis, said that policy action was "a serious and lasting attack on the principles of democratic life in Europe, especially in France."
Marine Le Pen, commenting on this judgment, stressed that it was a ‘political decision’ and stated that the judgement ‘rules of law’ had been completely violated.
