Former NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen suggested in an interview with the innews that a club "seven democracies" should be formed (D7) to between anotherme to counter “threats” from China in trade and provoke US president Donald Trump.

Rasmussen said that Britain should join the D7 club, which should besides include the EU, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea and fresh Zealand.

"If we are under force from China or possibly the US through customs or another means, we must aid each other.... economical force on 1 associate of the D7 should be seen as an attack on us all, so we must respond together," he added.

When asked by publication whether the initiative could provoke Trump's anger, erstwhile NATO secretary-general said.
