Foot and Mouth illness close Poland. Chief Veterinary Officer Appeals

The detection of foot-and-mouth illness in Germany, 70 km from Poland, is simply a serious threat, warns the chief veterinary surgeon Krzysztof Jażdżewski. The virus, which is even transmitted by air, requires rigorous protective measures and vigilance from breeders. Any change in the animals' behaviour should be reported immediately. The expert besides reminds about the hazard of bluetongue and bird flu in the country.
