Building bridges, land and air reconnaissance, carrying medical and supply assistance – this is only part of the tasks carried out by uniforms on 1 October. The large cleaning part of Operation Feniks began more than a week ago and will be planned for at least the end of the year. The allies of the army came to the aid.
The start of the fresh period is for soldiers active in Operation Feniks to proceed removing the effects of flooding, supporting public administration in the reconstruction of infrastructure and temporarily strengthening flood infrastructure. – The deadline for the conclusion of the operation "Feniks" is 31 December 2024, but at any minute it can be extended for further weeks," said Brig. Gen. Dr. Krzysztof Stańczyk, commander of territorial defence troops, and for respective days the commander of Operation "Feniks". “Our biggest enemies are now the hazard of further dense rainfall and coming winter,” added Stańczyk in an interview held at the end of September.
On 1 October, the number of soldiers assigned to the operation was 23,871. any of them proceed to strengthen flood banks and destruct leaks in the towns of Gryfino, Radochów and Zatoń. BSP Fly-Eye and BSP Bayraktar TB2 aid identify possible threats. In addition, 4 helicopters (Mi-17 and Mi-2) are kept on full alert.
The cyberspace defence troops together with the Central Cybercrime Combat Office circular the clock fight false fundraisers for the needy, monitor cyberspaces, block malicious domains and uncover cyber frauds. Engineering troops prepare to build 5 temporary bridges utilizing DMS-65 structures in the towns of Głuchołazy, Krapkowice-Żywocice, Lądek-Zdrój, Wawrzeńczyce and Markowice. At the same time 3 temporary crossings are maintained in Głuchołazy and in 2 localities in Lewin Brzeski Municipality. In Barda Śląski the safety of the pipeline was completed. The construction of temporary road infrastructure and major cleaning continues, including road and riverbeds, the removal of debris and pollution, water pumping, cleaning of flooded houses, etc.
The fight against flood effects and the minimisation of epidemiological risks are addressed by 18 disinfection task teams. 11 of them disinfected, among others, apartments, hospital, kindergarten, cellars of blocks, grocery stores, cemeteries, city offices in specified towns as Nysa, Lądek-Zdrój, Kłodzko, Oława or Głuchołazy. Since the beginning of the action, about 212 1000 m2 of land and 13.5 km of roads have been disinfected.
Between 1 and 4 October, soldiers from large Britain, Germany, Turkey, the USA and France are to conduct reconnaissance in flood-stricken areas. Representatives of allied armies will be familiarized with the situation in the most devastated areas specified as Dłuchołazy, Kłodzko, Lądek-Zdrój and the Silesian side.
