Government officials indicate that despite the presidential veto Poland will proceed to benefit from SAFE funds, however, this will make it hard to co-finance services specified as Border Guard, Police or State Protection Service.

Poland was to be the largest beneficiary of the EU SAFE programme - the Polish government was to receive approx. EUR 43.7 billion (nearly PLN 200 billion). in the form of interest-bearing loans and spend them on defence. Government declarations indicate that 89 percent of the funds from SAFE would go to Polish companies.
