Lots of generals, no decisions.

An American correspondent for the British Sky News station Mark Stone estimated that despite many hours of talks between the leaders there had been no crucial change of positions on either side. He besides pointed out that it was hard to clearly measure the result of the meeting, as at first glance there was no real progress.

At the same time, both leaders talked about large progress. Trump with a large deal of certainty, Zelenski, possibly a small smaller, but they don't seem to change anything in any of the key issues.

Stone stressed that the presidents surely did not retreat from the ongoing peace negotiations. In his view, the specified fact of maintaining existing positions can be considered a affirmative signal.

The Financial Times, in turn, estimated that the most crucial component of the gathering was the deficiency of public tensions between leaders. According to the editorial board, this will be regarded as a success in Kiev, especially in comparison with the February visit to the White House, ending the dispute brought about by Trump.

The German media estimation in turn that the gathering between Trump and Zelenski was more peaceful than in February, but did not bring concrete findings. Leaders talked about advancement in general, and key issues specified as Donbas, Zaporoska atomic Power Plant or the division of territory stay unresolved. The talks are to continue, with Zelenski hoping to increase the force on Russia in the event of a compromise being rejected.

No breakthrough, although visible progress

Commentators of Portuguese SIC and CNN stations Portugal believe that the hopes for fast peace in Ukraine are premature, pointing to the deficiency of real will from Russia, which in their view simply makes it look like a willingness to talk. They stress that despite the efforts of Kiev and Washington, Moscow blocks the ceasefire. CNN Portugal besides criticises the European Union for its failure of importance in negotiations and for its overly cautious policies towards the Kremlin, including sanctions, arms for Ukraine and frozen Russian assets.

The Italian “Corriere della Sera” assessed that despite Trump’s pressures, the gathering with Zelenski did not bring a breakthrough, although any advancement was noted. The diary underlines the optimism of the president of the United States as to the will for peace on both sides, while pointing out that positions are inactive diverging, especially in the Donbas issue. The paper besides notes Trump's declaration of readiness to visit Kiev, indicating that the pace of diplomacy has increased, but its success inactive depends on Moscow.

“La Stampa” noted, in turn, that despite the declaration of Moscow and Kiev's approach to the agreement, the pattern in which Trump first spoke to Putin and then to Zelenski was repeated. The newspaper's publicist estimated that the current process was more like a sterile circulation in place than real negotiations.
