Thales Belgium has a 70 mm guided rocket manufacturing facility in Herstal. They are liable for the largest production of specified weapons in Europe, calculated at 35,000 specified rockets per year. Now the bets are working to double that number. 70 mm rockets are an highly crucial kind of ammunition for the Western world. After mounting a cap (e.g. APKWS II) allowing to lead to laser light and maneuvering, these rockets turn into inexpensive precision weapons, perfect for combating drones, specified as suicide drones of the OWA class (
e.g.Shahid or Gierań 2). These weapons can be utilized by various combat platforms – from ground-based anti-drone systems, through combat helicopters (e.g. Polish AH-64 Apache), to 4th generation jets (e.g. American F-16 and F-15).
