At the 61st Munich safety Conference in 2025, The Vice president of the United States, without political correctness, expressed Washington's concerns about breaking freedom of speech in Europe, introducing censorship under the pretext of alleged hatred speech, ignoring the will of citizens, and consequently leaving certain fundamental values and ideals of democracy. Vance gave many examples, including the order of re-election in Romania after winning the incorrect candidate, the EU Commissioner's threat that the same would be done in Germany, flooding Europe with immigrants, absurd regulations and spending, punishing people for quiet prayer, for posts on the FB.

Vance’s speech echoed loudly throughout Europe. The reactions were different – from utmost criticism to far-reaching praise, but no 1 refused to admit the importance of the US Vice President's words. The Belgian 21News portal decided to print its full record. And as it turned out for doing this journalistic job, the editorial board was... punished.

The writer Ethics Council of that country punished the portal because, in its view, it allowed J.D. Vance to "speak his thesis without maintaining distance and response", risking possibly "inciting racism, discrimination, hatred or force against migrants".

The Council considered that 21News should indicate that the author of the speech or part of his discourse was "anti-democratic" or "repressing freedom". The Council took the view that there was besides insufficient "verification" and did not place Vance's speech "in the right perspective" or "did not correct" certain elements of his statements before publication.

The 21News portal was required to print the regulatory authority's decision on its website for 2 days. The "Highest Time" portal pointed out that the specified fact of punishing for the transcription of the speech was absurd.
