The European Maritime Day is celebrated on 20 May. This is an chance to reflect on the challenges facing the maritime economy and the coastal environment. 1 of the more pressing problems in this area is the erosion of sea shores. Dr Zuzanna Świrad from the Institute of Geophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw examines them.
