American allies in Europe – France, Spain and Italy – not only refuse to participate in military operations against Iran. In fresh days, they have blocked American armed forces from utilizing bases and utilizing airspace as part of the American run in Iraq.

Since the invasion of Iraq under U.S. command in 2003, there has been no specified large gap between Washington and any of its most crucial NATO partners. president Donald Trump, known for his aversion to the alliance, responded by suggesting that the United States could halt fulfilling their obligations under the NATO Treaty and even completely withdraw.
Transatlantic relations, already strained by Trump's duties, are in crisis. The biggest winners seem to be Russia and China, which would surely not be discouraged from weakening – or even worsening – alliances that for almost 8 decades sustained America's global influence.

At the beginning of this month, France announced that yes, it would let US aircraft active in "operational support" (e.g. tanking) to usage their bases, but not combat aircraft straight active in the attack on Iran.

Spanish defence minister Margarita Robles reported on Monday that the country closed its airspace for US aircraft active in the attack on Iran. She had previously refused US aircraft to usage jointly managed military bases on her territory.

Poland rejected the U.S. request to transfer part of Polish rocket defence systems Patriot to the mediate East, informs rp.pl and Polish Radio 24. The decision is motivated by concerns about its own safety in the context of threats from the east. The government emphasized that these systems are crucial for the protection of Polish sky and infrastructure.

Italy may be the most interesting case study. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Trump's ally, late failed erstwhile voters rejected the improvement of the judiciary in a referendum on 22 March, which in practice was at the same time a test of her political strength.

Now Italy has denied any U.S. military aircraft access to the Air Base in Sicily. The authoritative reason is that the United States requested approval only erstwhile the aircraft were already on the way, which meant that the Meloni government did not have adequate time to get Parliament's approval.

However, there are also indications that she is trying to distance herself from Trump.
"This communicative about its proximity to Trump, utilized to delegate the government, I do not know if it is more absurd or more deceptive, borderline with offensive," said Italian defence minister Guido Crosetto on Monday. "Trump is the president of the nation, elected by a large majority and follows his own way without listening to anyone but himself. We follow our way, without obedience."

On Tuesday, Trump harshly criticized European states on social media who did not support the US's action in Iran, writing in 1 of the entries: "The US will no longer aid you, as you were not with us." At the same time, Trump powerfully criticized France: “France would not let aircraft flying to Israel, loaded with military equipment, to fly over France’s territory. France was very unhelpful...US WILL REMEMBER!!!’

This can be put differently: Trump's controversial policy (mainly customs) and its rhetoric (especially regarding the seizure of Canada and Greenland) have made cooperation with the United States more politically risky for planet leaders elected by society. This is peculiarly actual in the case of a war of choice that seemingly started without consulting key allies
