A message by European leaders was issued the day after Donald Trump confirmed that he would meet Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday 15 August.
The paper was signed by: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, EC president Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French president Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Finnish president Alexander Stubb.
Volodymyr Zelenski responds to a message by European leaders
"The conclusion of the war must be fair, I am grateful to all those who stand on the side of Ukraine and our nation present in the name of peace in Ukraine, which means defending the vital safety interests of our European nations" - wrote the president of Ukraine on Platform X.
