Customs fight

The European Union has taken measures to retaliate against fresh duties on steel and aluminium imposed by the US. From 1 April, the EU will introduce additional charges for US goods worth EUR 26 billion, including peanut butter, bourbon, jeans, motorcycles and boats.

From the north of Tuesday to Wednesday of East American time (at 5 a.m. in Poland) there were 25% duties on steel and aluminium imported into the US. According to president Donald Trump's decision, they cover imports from all countries without exception.

This decision restored the steel duties that Trump introduced in 2018 for all countries, and increased the aluminium rate from 10 to 25 percent. In practice, this will affect Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the European Union, Japan, large Britain and South Korea, which have so far been completely or partially excluded from the duties introduced in 2018.

Ursula von der Leyen announces

The head of the KE Ursula von der Leyen responded to the situation by saying:

Starting this morning, the United States is applying 25% duties on steel and aluminium imports. We profoundly regret this measure. Customs are taxes. They are bad for business and worse for consumers.

As she added, the European Union must take action to defend consumers and business, and the remedies introduced are decisive but appropriate.

The Union is going to fool the U.S.?

His plans were already discussed by the current president of the United States at the end of February. As he stated at the time:

Let us be honest, the European Union was created to deceive the United States. That's her goal, and they did a good job. But now I'm the president.

Trump pointed out that this is an crucial issue, as it will contribute to the re-enrichment of America. He besides stressed that this meant beginning many fresh companies in the United States.
