ABU DHABI- Etihad Airways (EY) has announced changes to its operations for the Northern Summer 2025 schedule, impacting a wide range of routes. According to Aeroroutes, these changes, effective primarily from March 30, 2025, include aircraft changes, increased frequencies, and new routes.

The adjustments are part of Etihad’s strategic efforts to optimize its fleet utilization and cater to growing passenger demand. Below is a detailed breakdown of the key changes planned by Etihad Airways for summer 2025.

Etihad Summer 2025 Changes

Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam

From 05 April 2025 to 28 June 2025, flights to Amsterdam will be operated by the Boeing 787-10 daily, except on Day 6. Starting 01 July 2025 until 27 July 2025, the Airbus A350-1000 will take over on Days 6 and 7, with some dates excluded.

From 29 July 2025 to 30 September 2025, the Airbus A350-1000 will operate daily, excluding selected dates.

Abu Dhabi to Athens

The Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Athens route will see an upgrade starting 30 March 2025, with the A321neo joining the existing A320 fleet. This will allow for two daily flights, enhancing travel options between the cities.

Abu Dhabi to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi

Multiple adjustments are planned for flights to Bangkok. On EY406/407, the 777-300ER will replace the 787-10 starting 30 March 2025, with some exceptions beginning 02 July 2025.

For EY402/403, the schedule is as follows:

  • 30 March 2025 to 29 June 2025: Operates on Days 6 and 7 using 777-300ER.
  • 06 July 2025 to 27 July 2025: Operates on Day 7.
  • 02 August 2025 to 02 September 2025: Operates on Days 2, 3, and 6.
  • 09 September 2025 to 23 September 2025: Operates on Day 2.

Abu Dhabi to Barcelona

Starting 02 June 2025, flights to Barcelona will increase from 10 to 12 weekly, operated by the 787-9. From 01 August 2025, the frequency further increases to 14 weekly.

During September 2025, flights EY111/112 will transition to the 787-10 on selected dates.

Abu Dhabi to Boston

For the summer of 2025 (01 July to 30 September), the 787-9 with 290 seats will replace the current 303-seater, ensuring a more optimized fleet deployment.

Abu Dhabi to Brussels

From 30 March 2025, a daily service to Brussels will be operated by the 787-10, replacing the previously used 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Copenhagen

Service to Copenhagen will see notable changes:

  • 03 July 2025 to 31 August 2025: The 787-10 replaces the 787-9.
  • From 05 August 2025: Frequency increases from 4 to 5 weekly.
  • From 01 October 2025: Flights become daily, with the A321neo LR replacing the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Dublin

Daily service with the 777-300ER will continue from 30 March 2025, instead of transitioning to the 787-10 as initially planned.

Starting 01 July 2025, the route expands to 10 weekly flights, with 7 operated by the 777-300ER and 3 by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt

The Abu Dhabi–Frankfurt route will see an upgraded service starting 30 March 2025, with EY121/122 flights operated by a combination of 787-10 and 787-9 aircraft.

Abu Dhabi to Istanbul

Beginning 30 March 2025, flights EY541/542 will transition to the A321neo on Days x26, replacing the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Kuala Lumpur

Service to Kuala Lumpur will be bolstered from 30 March 2025, with two daily flights using a combination of 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft, instead of the current single aircraft type.

Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow

This busy route will see the following changes:

  • EY063/064: From 01 July 2025 to 30 September 2025, the A380 will replace the 787-10, transitioning from a mixed fleet of 5 weekly A380 and 2 weekly 787-9 flights.
  • EY067/068: From 30 June 2025, the A380 will be replaced by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Madrid

The frequency of flights to Madrid will steadily increase in 2025. Starting 02 August, service rises to 13 weekly, then to 14 weekly from 02 September 2025, with all flights operated by the 787-9.

This follows an earlier plan to increase to 11 weekly from 02 July and 14 weekly from 30 July 2025.

Abu Dhabi to Manila

The Abu Dhabi–Manila route remains critical, with the following updates:

  • EY446/447: Wamos Air A330-200 will continue daily from 30 March 2025.
  • EY440/441: The 787-10 will replace the 777-300ER on selected dates between 02 April and 07 May 2025.

Abu Dhabi to Moscow Sheremetyevo

From 30 March 2025, 14 weekly flights will be maintained using a mix of 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft, instead of the initially planned 10 weekly.

Abu Dhabi to New York JFK

Between 01 April and 30 September 2025, flights EY001/002 will be operated by the 787-9 on Day x2. The overall schedule will include 8 weekly flights with the 787-9 and 6 weekly with the A380.

Abu Dhabi to Phuket

The Phuket route will undergo several adjustments:

  • EY412/413: From 03 August 2025, the 787-10 will operate on selected dates.
  • EY414/415: From 30 March 2025 to 31 July 2025, the frequency reduces from 7 to 6 weekly, operated by the 787-9. From 01 August 2025, the A321neo LR will replace the 787-9.
  • EY410/411: Effective 30 March 2025, the 787-9 will replace the 787-10, except on selected dates.

Abu Dhabi to Rome Fiumicino

The Rome route will continue with the Wamos Air A330-200 operating EY082/083 daily starting 30 March 2025. For EY085/086, the 787-10 will be replaced by the 777-300ER during the following periods:

  • 11 May 2025 to 01 June 2025: Operates on Days 3 and 7.
  • 08 June 2025 to 30 June 2025: Operates on Days 1 and 7.
  • 02 July 2025, 04 August to 01 September 2025: Operates on Day 1.
  • 02 September to 23 September 2025: Operates on Days 1, 2, and 7.
  • 24 September to 30 September 2025: Operates on all days except Days 4 and 6.

Abu Dhabi to Atlanta

A new route to Atlanta will launch on 02 July 2025, with 4 weekly flights operated by the Airbus A350-1000.

Abu Dhabi to Casablanca

Starting 02 August 2025, the Casablanca service will increase from 4 to 7 weekly flights, operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Denpasar

Flights to Denpasar will see an increase from 4 to 7 weekly starting 31 March 2025, with all flights operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Düsseldorf

Changes to Düsseldorf service include:

  • 01 April 2025: Transition to year-round service, operated 3 times weekly by the 787-9.
  • 01 October 2025: Increase to daily flights, with the A321neo LR replacing the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to El Dabaa (El Alamein)

A new route to El Dabaa will commence on 17 July 2025, with 2 weekly flights operated by the A320.

Abu Dhabi to Jakarta

Flights to Jakarta will increase from 10 to 14 weekly starting 01 August 2025, operated by a mix of 777-300ER and 787-9 aircraft.

Abu Dhabi to Johannesburg

Starting 07 August 2025, service to Johannesburg will increase from 4 to 7 weekly flights, operated by the 787-9. This represents a shift from the previously planned 5 weekly flights.

Abu Dhabi to Krabi

A new route to Krabi will launch on 09 October 2025, with daily flights operated by the 3-class A321neo LR.

Abu Dhabi to Lisbon

From 30 March 2025, the Lisbon service will be operated 5 times weekly using the 787-10, replacing the 787-9. Starting 23 May 2025, frequency reduces to 4 weekly.

Abu Dhabi to Malaga

Service to Malaga will increase from 3 to 5 weekly flights between 04 July and 29 August 2025, operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Male

Starting 30 March 2025, the Abu Dhabi–Male route will maintain 2 daily flights using the 787-9, replacing the A321neo previously planned for one of the services.

Abu Dhabi to Manchester

Flights to Manchester will remain at 10 weekly from 31 March 2025, instead of the initially planned 7 weekly. Frequency increases to 12 weekly from 02 June 2025, 13 from 30 June 2025, and 14 from 04 August 2025. The service will feature 1 daily 777-300ER and 1 daily 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Medan Kualanamu

A new route to Medan Kualanamu will launch on 02 October 2025, with 3 weekly flights operated by the 3-class A321neo LR. Reservations remain unavailable as of 23 December 2024.

Abu Dhabi to Melbourne

Service to Melbourne will increase from 7 to 8 weekly flights starting 30 March 2025, operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Milan Malpensa

The Milan Malpensa route will maintain 14 weekly flights starting 30 March 2025, instead of the initially planned 10 weekly. Changes to aircraft include:

  • 31 March to 01 July 2025: The A350-1000 replaces the 787-9/-10 on Days x5, 6, and 7.
  • 06 August to 27 August 2025: Operates on Day 3 with the A350-1000.
  • 01 September to 30 September 2025: Operates on all days except Days 4 and 6.
    From 01 October 2025, service increases to 18 weekly, with flights EY087/088 operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Munich

Flights to Munich will increase from 10 to 14 weekly starting 01 May 2025, operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Osaka Kansai

Starting 01 August 2025, service to Osaka Kansai will increase from 5 to 6 weekly, operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Prague

A new route to Prague will launch on 02 June 2025, with 4 weekly flights operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Sydney

Starting 03 July 2025, service to Sydney will increase from 7 to 10 weekly flights. The schedule includes 4 weekly flights operated by the 777-300ER and 7 weekly by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Taipei Taoyuan

A new route to Taipei Taoyuan will launch on 07 September 2025, with daily flights operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Warsaw

A new route to Warsaw will launch on 03 June 2025, with 4 weekly flights operated by the 787-9.

Abu Dhabi to Zurich

Flights to Zurich will increase from 10 to 12 weekly starting 03 May 2025, and 14 weekly from 02 June 2025, operated by the 787-9.

Above are the changes announced by Etihad Airways for the northern summer of 2025.
