During the “Forgive and Reconciliation” service held on Friday 7 July 2023 in Warsaw's Archdiocese Basilica of St. John the Baptist Martyrdom, words came up, reopening the case “settled” equally 10 years ago by PO-PSL. As it may have seemed then, ultimately.
AStanislaw Gądecki said in his homily:
We gather in prayer as children of the heavenly Father. We all address him with the holy name that Jesus taught us. We come with a hard subject of forgiveness for crimes committed 80 years ago in Volyn and with a large desire to reconcile our nations. We ask forgiveness first of all, for he suffers most erstwhile his children, though baptized as brothers and sisters, endure each other's pain and even kill the innocent.
His fatherly love, revealed in Jesus Christ, our Savior, heals our wounds and enables us to forgive. Only his lead can bring actual unity.
This, however, cannot be done without mention to the fact and without naming the end families of the genocide of the Polish people in Volyn "by name, without recourse to half-truths and euphemisms", specified as "Tragedy Volynska", "The Volynsk Crime", "ethnic cleansing" or "Anti-Polish Action".
The fact besides demands the remembrance of people of another nationalities who are victims, due to the fact that at the hands of members of the CNS and UPA and Ukrainian auxiliary police and Ukrainian police regiments of the SS were killed not only Poles, but besides Jews, Czechs, Armenians, Roma and just Ukrainians who rescued Poles. (...).
It is worth to scope to the origin of this naming, not having much in common not only with history, but... with the law in force in Poland.
12 July 2013 (the prime minister at the time was Donald Tusk, while Bronisław Komorowski was president) The Sejm has passed a resolution on the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Volynian Crime and tribute to its victims.
And that's where we find the words that cancellations request not only the end environments.
...In July 2013, it is the 70th anniversary of the wave of crimes committed by the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and troops of the Ukrainian Insurgency Army. The organized and mass dimension of the Volynian Crime gave it character ethnic cleansing with signs of genocide. Between 1942 and 1945 around 100,000 Polish citizens were killed in the territory of Volyn and Galicia East. This tragic experience should be restored to the historical memory of modern generations.
The Sejm of the Republic of Poland pays tribute to and honours citizens of the Second Republic of Poland who were brutally murdered by Ukrainian nationalists (...).
By resolution, whose most outrageous passage I presented above, voted:
203 PO Members (all present, including Donald Tusk, Sławomir Nowak, Robert Kropiwnicki, Isabella Leszczyna, Ewa Kopacz, Sławomir Neumann, Stefan Niesiolowski, Julia Pitera, Jan Vincent-Rostowski and even... Miron Sycz, boy of Alexander Sicz, associate of UPA);
26 PSL Members (including Sawicki, Pawlak and Piechociński);
25 SLD Members (complete)
and besides a fewer smaller wheels, sometimes even exoticly – for example, only 1 Ludwik Dorn voted for the SP.
In turn abstaining is:
128 PiS Members (everyone present in the room, including Jarosław Kaczyński, Mariusz Kamiński, Beata Szydło, Piotr Naimski, Krystyna Pawlowicz, Marzena Machałek, Piotr Pyzik or Bogdan Rzoniec);
14 SP Members (including Andrzej Dera, Patrick Jaka);
2 PSL MPs (Jan Zych and Zbigniew Włodkowski).
Against, however, was the full Palikot Club (all present – 33 Members).
(vote No 16 at the 45th gathering of the Sejm on 12-07-2013 at 11:11:21 a.m.)
The ignorance of the basic terms in global law since before the birth of then Minister of abroad Affairs Radosław Sikorski is shocking.
Here in 1950 the Republic of Poland (and yes, the Polish People's Republic of Poland was later, in 1952) ratified Convention on the Prevention and punishment of Genocide Crimes, passed by the United Nations General Assembly on 9 December 1948 (Journal of Laws 1952, No. 2, item 9. Article II reads:
Within the meaning of this Convention genocide is any of the following:
(a) execution of members of the group,
(b) causing serious harm to the body or intellectual wellness disorders of members of the group,
(c) the deliberate creation of surviving conditions for members of the group, calculated to origin their full or partial physical destruction,
(d) the application of measures aimed at stopping birthdays within the group,
(e) compulsory transfer of the children of the members of the group to another group.
Not long ago, he was admitted on 17 July 1998 Rome Statute of the global Criminal Courtwhich besides includes the definition of genocide (Article 7):
For the purposes of these Statutes, ‘genocide’ means any of the following acts, carried out with the intention of destroying all or part of a national, ethnic, racial or spiritual group, specified as:
(a) killing of group members;
(b) causing serious harm to the body or intellectual wellness disorders of members of the group;
(c) a deliberate creation for a group of surviving conditions, calculated to origin full or partial physical destruction;
(d) the application of measures aimed at stopping birth within the group;
(e) compulsory transfer of the children of the members of the group to another group.
It is so practically a repetition of the erstwhile standard.
Polish criminal law in Article 118 of the 1997 Criminal Code penalises akin behaviour as in doctrine (the explanation of law) is named extermination. This concept is wider than genocide, due to the fact that it besides includes crimes against humanity and war crimes.
Unfortunately, the resolution of the Sejm does not contain the above term, and so conceptually remains outside the area of Polish criminal terminology. Instead, it uses the word "ethnic cleansing", which leads to the conclusion that the Volyn massacre does not fall within this concept, so it is not genocide or a crime against humanity.
It is so essential to emphasise with full force that alleged cultural cleansing is the killing of people only due to the fact that they belong to a peculiar national group.
And that's what global law calls genocide.
Didn't Minister Radosław Sikorski, the current licensee, then claiming to be a master's degree?
POAnd others showed good ignorance POWords.
One must remember, however, that not all Ukrainians, even those from UPA, were bandits.
The first action carried out jointly by UPA and AK-WiN troops took place on 27 May 1945 in the villages of Waręż and Chrobrów in the territory of Hrubieszowski. It was like sealing a cooperation agreement signed on May 21, 1945 in Ruda Rozaniecka. There were more specified actions, e.g. on 22 October 1946, Leon Taraszkiewicz's AK-WiN branch ("Jastrząb") crashed the UB building in Włodawa. This action was attended by 4 Ukrainian guerrillas “Misha”, “Andrzej”, “Sojka” and “Sławko” separated from the Stefan Szewczuk group (“Maxim”). On 6 April 1946, the station in Werbkowice was jointly captured.
And most celebrated figure – Colonel WP Pawło Szanprint, from 17 March 1945, the president of the Ukrainian National Committee and the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian National Army, was awarded the Polish Virtuti Militari award for war merit in September 1939 by General Anders (in 1965).
But crime remains a crime.
We should find the guilty, and no 1 can question that.
Because 100,000 victims are a blood donation that can't be forgotten.
It should be remembered that according to the 1937 census, about 3 100 1000 Poles lived on the lands covered by cultural cleansing with the characteristics of genocide.
So he died equally all third.
Mostly from old neighbors.
So what?
Minister Sikorski then claimed that if we named Mord by name, according to established global terminology, Ukraine would turn from the West and crawl into the embrace of the Kremlin.
Today it is clear that the reason for the attitude of the then Tusk government, supported by the PO-PSL coalition, was due to reset Deals with Moscow. The then president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was sincerely loyal to Putin. A year later, erstwhile he was removed from power, he demanded assistance from the Russian troops to put them back in Kiev.
Thus, the "scaggling party", as was then called the PO, was afraid... to offend Putin. There goes the Monster.
Thus, the fear-filled pants of Tusk are the reason why the historical claims of Poland are rather severely disturbed.
And if we add the statements of the PO 2 word (2007-2015) Mirona SiczaWho openly said that UPA is the same as AKWe're clear.
You gotta go ahead and kind things out inside the country, then you gotta request something outside.
Meanwhile, the parliamentary resolution of 12 July 2013 was only meant to be useful inside Poland. Look how much Tusk does good for the end of the day...
By the way, even today, after 10 years it's worth asking, Is the fact about the Holocaust hidden for the correctness of political relations between Israel and Germany?
