Estonia: Russian fighter breached the country's airspace

The Ministry of abroad Affairs of Estonia called on Thursday the charge d'affaires of the Russian embassy in Tallinn and handed him a protest note in connection with the breach of the country's airspace by the Russian Su-30 fighter - informed the head of the Estonian diplomacy Margus Tsahkna.

The Russian aircraft flew into Estonian airspace close Vaindloo Island in the Gulf of Finland and stayed in it for about a minute.

“The Italian Air Force (NATO Baltic Air Police) responded to the incursion and no threat to Estonia’s safety was identified”, Tsahkna said.

Vaindloo in the Gulf of Finland, about 100 km northeast of Tallinn, is the northernmost part of the territory of Estonia.
