Editor-in-Chief of “Polish Thought” Jan Engelgard wrote an crucial book “Roman Dmowski and 3 generations of nationalists”. This is 1 of the most crucial works written in fresh years, showing how crucial continuity of thought was in our political camp. He did not describe the 4th and 5th generations of nationalists, and it is simply a pity. The 4th are people who acted during the period of People's Poland. And on both the opposition and non-opposition sides (although mostly outside the Party). The 5th generation are already those raised in the ending of the Polish People's Republic and the beginnings of the capitalist 3rd Poland. These would be very crucial and essential chapters – due to the fact that thanks to these people, the National Camp survived in the form of a residual but authentic one. The last 2 generations failed. A large proportion of those who present mention to the Endeck tradition are in the way of reasoning very far from this school.
In January 2004, a conference dedicated to the national camp was held in Rzeszów, orgasnised by the Homeworld Weekly. I was 24 years old, and I felt real regret that so small was done to teach the reasoning of the endeced youth. I was talking about the upbringing problem there.
“Our generation must set itself on self-sustaining. The erstwhile generations have failed. They were going to give us a better future, they were going to teach us realism, and they let us drop off shallow patriotism... We do not grow from the revolutionary rebellion of young angry people or from the conflict of generations, but 1 thing we gotta say to each another honestly – fellow Seniors, with all due respect for your years, but you have not proven yourselves as an educator... It is the average work of fathers to pave the way for their sons, even 1 level of building a common house. Ask yourselves, have you taught us wise patriotism? Have you taught us realism in political life? Did you cool the young hot heads ready for continuous radicalization of passwords? Ask yourselves this question – what did your generation do – to make the next generation smarter politically? I'm asking them this question now, due to the fact that we're going to be asked by our kids what we did. I'm not asking, so I'm not asking you Seniors, due to the fact that we know that answer, but I'm making it clear to us young people right now that this is the task we have ahead of us. And I'm afraid we'll neglect on that, too. I'm not saying this here to yell at my older colleagues, due to the fact that I have neither the right to do it, nor the aggressive nature of the screamer and – most importantly – I have no 1 to yell at due to the fact that the most guilty are not here. But we all request to realize – the problem of our environment is the deficiency of endetic education, rational, based on national interest, free from legends.”
After the conference, we stood in front of the main entrance and talked to the colleagues of Seweryn Godski, Bogusław Jeznach and the dead Wojtek Mazur about our impressions. The col came to us. Marian Pietrzak of Łódź and said “Gorzky and unfortunately real”. I think that this mediocre upbringing – it was due to respective reasons, besides independent of our older colleagues – caused any break in continuity. 1 must remember the tragedy of planet War II and the times of lawlessness of the Bermanowszczyzna – then many endexes paid the life of fidelity to the idea. This caused the endeck niche to be filled to a large degree by those who more heart than reason identified with our camp. This in turn was the origin of the incorrect recognition of the next generation. After the conference, I had doubts if I had the right to say so. reasoning about it today, I think I was right – although I was incorrect about the addressee. I should be addressing the 4th generation, and above all to ourselves. due to the fact that it was not possible for us to spread national-democratic reasoning among those who for years appeared in the national camp and identified with it at least emotionally. alternatively of studying, symbolism, shouting, and radicalism were more common. I resent myself due to the fact that I could do better, more more and wiser. I resent that we have not listened very carefully to people specified as Tadeusz Radwan, Jerzy Raczkowski, Jerzy Powan, Władysław Wójcik, Witold Staniszkis, Zygmunt Przetakiewicz, Bronisław Ekert, Mirosław Kimnes or Fr Jerzy Tomziński. We should most likely request more effective political reasoning lessons than those we considered to be patterns.
Continuity has been completely broken in fresh years. The media-promoted current is any kind of an era decorated with endemic ornaments and a denial of it. After all, it is mainly the way of reasoning and a certain geopolitical orientation, not the swords of the chroby size of Boy Scouts. Today, the classical endeck thought lives mainly thanks to “Polish Thought” or the titanic work of Jan Engelgard and Przemysław Piasta. We have quite a few work to do to get adequate people into the right way of thinking. I don't know if this is gonna work, but that's our job. We owe it to those who saved national thought at a time erstwhile it required actual sacrifices.
