DUBAI— UAE flag carrier Emirates Airline (EK) will introduce a third daily flight to Mauritius (MRU) on December 1, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to increase inbound tourism to the Indian Ocean destination.

The new Dubai (DXB)–Mauritius (MRU) service will operate as EK709/710 and will utilise a Boeing 777-300ER. This service will complement the airline’s current two A380 daily flights and will considerably increase the overall seat capacity on the route.

Emirates Adds 3rd Daily Flight to Mauritius

In order to facilitate the expansion of tourism in Mauritius, Emirates has implemented an additional daily flight. This action is the result of years of effective operations and partnerships with local authorities, such as Air Mauritius (MK), under a codeshare agreement that improves global connectivity.

Emirates currently operates two daily flights to Mauritius with its flagship Airbus A380, with flight numbers EK701/702 and EK703/704. The new EK709/710 service, which will commence on 1 December 2025, will increase the total weekly capacity of the route by more than 30%.

This will provide passengers in the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific regions, including Japan, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, with more flexible travel options.

This expansion will be especially advantageous for cargo operators that utilise Emirates’ wide-body services for international freight, as well as leisure and business travellers who are interested in improved scheduling options.

Emirates’ Economic Contribution to Mauritius

Emirates has substantially influenced the economic development of Mauritius since it began operations on the island in 2002. The airline has transported over 8.8 million passengers and more than 126,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Mauritius to date.

It has directly contributed USD 119 million to the local economy through its operations, in addition to USD 264 million in tourism receipts and USD 530 million in broader tourism-related expenditures.

Emirates has directly employed numerous Mauritanians in a variety of positions, including cabin crew, pilots, customer service, and engineering. These activities have contributed to the establishment of approximately 3,600 local jobs.

Emirates’ reinvigorated emphasis on Mauritius also emphasises the airline’s ongoing partnership with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) and Air Mauritius. These partnerships have facilitated collaborative marketing initiatives since 2012, elevating Mauritius’s position on the global tourism map.

Emirates Dominates Dubai-Mauritius Route

Emirates provides more than 15,000 weekly seats to Mauritius, more than any other international airline. This is possible thanks to the recent inclusion of a daily B777 service and the 14 weekly A380 flights.

EK is the sole carrier that offers First Class service on this route, which further enhances its appeal to those flying in its premium cabins.

Emirates’ expanded schedule is expected to further solidify its position as a critical aviation partner for Mauritius, while also meeting the increasing global demand for travel to this picturesque Indian Ocean travel destination.
