The president has signed a bill whereby 1 professional group can work up to the age of 70! This is about court bailiffs who will be recalled from office later than before under the fresh rules. The retirement age of bailiffs will be equal for both women and men.

President Andrzej Duda's law firm informs about the amendment of the provisions on the retirement age of court bailiffs. Under the law signed by the head of state on June 25, 2025, they will quit later – at the latest at the age of 70, erstwhile they are dismissed.

Although all news about the increase in retirement age in Poland raises utmost – and most frequently highly bad – emotions, it is good news for the bailiffs. They do not quit in the strict sense of the word, but are forcibly dismissed. It was thus considered that this professional group is even discriminated against – in relation to, for example, notaries who can work until the age of 70, if that is their will. The appeal means that the bailiff cannot proceed to prosecute the profession, so he must find another origin of livelihood, even if he wishes to prosecute a career in the industry.

Very often, the bailiffs left their positions against their own will after turning 65. Many of them challenged the laws in force and the administrative court acknowledged that they were right – the existing law was discriminatory for them.

Thanks to the amendment of the rules, the bailiffs will be able to work 5 years longer – until the age of 70 – like notaries and judges (after 65 with the approval of the KRS).
