Elon Musk wrote on platform X that Marine Le Pen is France's last hope. An American billionaire supported the leader of the National Unity a fewer days after the Paris appeal court opened its way for the start in the 2027 presidential election.
Entry that ran around France
The owner of the X platform did not beat around the bush. Marine Le Pen described as the "last hope of France", referring to her advanced listings in the polls before the presidential election. This isn't the first time Musk has taken sides with a French right-wing leader. He previously publically supported her in the course of the case for the usage of European Parliament funds.
Judgment That Didn't Close the Road
Le Pen was convicted of misappropriation of the Europarliament and was originally banned from moving for 5 years. On July 7, 2026, the Paris Court of Appeal softened the sentence. The period of ban was reduced to 45 months, of which 30 were suspended, and the prison word was reduced to 3 years, mostly suspended. However, the court has placed this on electronic supervision, to which the politician disagrees. Le Pen announced the cassation to the Court of Cassation, which she felt would suspend the execution of the penalty. "There is no more script in which I could not compete in 2027," she stated.
Fourth start and dispute over algorithms
For Le Pen, it will be the 4th effort to win the presidency. In 2022 she lost in the second circular to Emmanuel Macron, scoring over 41 percent of the vote. The entry Musk caused a sharp reaction in France. erstwhile European Union Commissioner Thierry Breton warned against the "season of interference" and called for oversight of X platform algorithms.
