The election wedge means waiting for our elites to ripen to us

Klin by wedge – method in Poland known and utilized by many, for hangover the best percentages. According to this logic, Sławomir Sierakowski proposes populism to fight populism. The capital, which had previously been governed by certain rules, in his opinion is long gone, and is shortly to be found and set again after the election. But who will be invited to see him? Isn't it what the Confederate heads are “more open”?

Populism Mr. Przemysław Sadura with Sławomir Sierakowski – authors of the "Populist society" and guests of the panel of the same title, which was held during this year's Freedom Games – search first in Polish society. Their logic is this – we choose politicians in our own image – i.e. cynical and interesting. In the case of opposition politicians, calculating seems to force them to do so. As voters, the biggest sin we can commit at the ballot box is to follow our own wallet. Just as a sinner has no grace of God, so specified voters do not have civic awareness.

Then who's the depository of civic values? Of course, this function is attributed to opposition media. The problem is that they themselves are primarily guided by cliqueness or profit and take it as an apparent fact, due to the fact that – as they openly argue – otherwise they cannot survive.

Meanwhile, the civic work in media optics called independents is to do good PR to opposition forces. It is widely known that in the last 8 years criticism of opposition politicians' actions has been poorly seen, and in the course of subsequent pre-election campaigns, with increased stakes, specified voices have been treated and are now – as a state treason.

During his gathering in Łódź, Sierakowski argued that in our society he did not have time to make and strengthen the spirit of liberal democracy. Unfortunately, the thought of populism fighting populism is simply a crowning example of this immaturity. Old liberal democracies save people who inactive follow the rules, including the strength of their institutions. Anna Materska-Sosnowska spoke about this in the context of Trump's effort to take over American institutions.

After 3 days of debates and meetings during the 10th edition of the Freedom Games, I observe how hundreds of participants and panelists share their own interesting evaluation of the panels and debates in social media. On the another hand, large newspapers and news services, to which opposition voters are eager to look after inexpensive sensations, focusing on disrupting prof. Leszek Balcerowicz's lecture by the little-known East Group to date, or describing the twitter confessions of Mr. Szumlewicz, who, playing at 2 o'clock in the morning on the Łódź Kaliska dance floor, felt that he had approached him and verbally insulted Ryszard Petru, who had left Łódź by train long before this incident.

After many months of preparation of the largest event of this kind in Central and east Europe, which this year hosted over 600 speakers and over 1,500 spectators, I am certain of 1 thing: it is impossible to save liberal democracy by utilizing populism in its defence, it is impossible to build civilian society by creating a tribal strategy in a contra to enemy camp. Leszek Jażdżewski, editor-in-chief of Liberté! spoke in his speech "A turning point for democracy" about the request to renew our national community. For now, we are trying to build it from the bottom up, fearing that those on whom we will cast our voice will not change it for small. We inactive have the hope that our elites will grow to us someday.
