It is amazing that the US, a country that constantly teaches Europe, has specified an undemocratic way of electing its president.
AlGore erstwhile received 0.5 million more votes than George W. Bush, but the another 1 became president. Hilary Clinton got 2.9 million votes more than Trump, but she lost anyway. In 2024 Trump besides did not win 50% of the vote.
How is that possible? The election is in states, the states have a certain number of electors, which does not correspond at all to the number of voters.
They say 60-80% of Americans would like a general election on the terms we have in Europe. But then Republicans would lose.
Maybe Europe should request democratic elections in the US.
