On Friday 13 March 2 priests were killed who rescued 2 drowning altar boys on the beach in Ecuador, reports ACI Prensa.

Priest Alfonso Avilés Pérez, a associate of the Association of Jesus Christ Priest and parish priest of the parish of St. Albert the large in the Diocese of Daule; and Pedro Anzoátegui, who served in the Diocese of San Jacinto, did not hesitate to go to the rescue of the youth participating in the large-posteric retreats of the altar priests held in the coastal town of Playas, where the children entered the sea.

Two ministers threatened to drown, and priests came to save them. The ministers, thank God, came out of the water, but unfortunately the priests did not. All young participants of the retreat feel well physically, are not in danger, and have been taken to their homes, as reported by Ecuadorian paper El Mercurio.

Cardinal Luis Cabrera, Archbishop of Guayaquil, entrusted the dead clergymen to God and, clearly moved, presided over the Holy Mass on Saturday, asked for a prayer for “our brothers Alfonsa and Pedro, whom the Lord present gives his grace and blessing.”
