I was at the Advent retreat. Weird? I don't belong to the Church. I'm an agnostic. But the retreat led Professor Andrzej Dragula, mine authorityt about the Gospel, morality, humanity and values. I've only known you from books, articles and social media, but I've been dreaming for years to meet him and listen. live.
And the subject – “The Extase of the Merciful Samaritan” – made me just should be there.
I listened to him with the baked goods, met him and hugged him, thanking him for everything. His lyrics made me a better man.
Everyone knows the parable of Good Samaritan. Jesus redefines the concept of neighbour in it – the neighbour is not only a individual of the same ethnic, spiritual or social group, but all man in need, regardless of origin, position or common prejudice.
The prof. on the can of this parable addressed the subject of evil—evil, which evokes unconditional good, evil, to which "God sends" good; turning evil into good.
From Saint Augustine, Tischner and Wojtyla, to Leon XIV and Dragula – the subject was widely embedded in tradition and moral reflection.
I do not feel educated enough, nor do I have the goodness to address these issues, but I can wholeheartedly urge the book of Father Andrzej Dragula "The Extase of the Merciful Samaritan". Regardless of faith, or deficiency of faith, you will find universal values in it.
Referring to the words of Father Andrew, I will quote a passage from the endorsement of Leon XIV “I Loved You”:
“Christian love overcomes all barriers, close to the distant, connects strangers, makes close enemies, crosses the human abyss insurmountable And into the innermost corners of society. By its nature, Christian love is prophetic, performs miracles, knows no bounds: pursues the impossible. Love is above all a way of knowing life, a way of surviving it. Well, the Church, who does not set any limits to love, who does not know the enemies to fight, but sees only men and women to be loved – is the Church which the planet needs today.”
Beautiful words, isn't it?
The answer can be found by asking a feedback question:
What would happen if that word wasn't there? If there were no people who preach it and effort to live it?
