According to Canalys (for CNBC), Apple exported as many as 11.5 million iPhones from India to the US from January to April 2025.
April alone brought 3 million units, which means an increase of 76% compared to the erstwhile year. Despite this, the consequence was lower than in March erstwhile 4.4 million devices were sent from India – Apple most likely accelerated shipments in the face of the forthcoming turbulence.
By comparison, exports from China to the US fell drastically – from 4.3 million in April to just 900,000 in May, which means precisely 76% of the year-to-year decline.
According to experts, Apple has gradually moved production from China to India since the pandemic, in order to become independent of the unstable US-China relationship. The latest study shows the effects of this strategy – especially in the face of the threat of 25% of customs duties on non-produced products in the US, announced by president Trump.
