Ekho Kavkaza: USA and Armenia published a joint message on TRIPP project

Following the conclusion of the negotiations held in Washington, D.C. between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the abroad Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzojan, a joint message by Armenia and the United States on the Trump way for global Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) task was published.

The paper officially confirms that Yerevan will grant a peculiar company under the control of the U.S. government long-term exclusive rights to the transit route, according to Armenian Radio Free Europe.

The paper confirms that a transit corridor is planned to be established in the territory of Armenia, which will connect the essential part of Azerbaijan with the Nachichevan Autonomous Republic through the Sjunik region. The basis of the agreement is the findings reached in August 2025 at the White House, in which Prime Minister Nikol Pasynian agreed to supply "unhindered connectivity".

According to the TRIPP implementation framework published after the talks, the joint American-Armenian company will build a railway line, highway, power lines and another infrastructure along the transit corridor and then manage them for at least 49 years and draw gross from their operation.

Armenia intends to offer the United States 74 percent stake in the TRIPP improvement company, keeping 26 percent for itself. This agreement is expected to be extended for another 50 years, while granting the Government of Armenia an additional holding, thus expanding its share to 49 percent.

The paper stresses that Armenia will have full jurisdiction over border control and customs functions in the context of trade and transit carried out under TRIPP. akin declarations were besides made by Rubio, who made a brief comment for journalists immediately after the adoption of Mirzojan in the State Department.

‘On the 1 hand [TRIPP] opens Armenia to business and allows for its economical development, but this is done in a way that does not in any way undermine Armenia’s sovereignty. There is no problem of sovereignty here – the task full respects it," Rubio said.

The message besides states that TRIPP will employment private operators to supply ‘direct client service services’, including ‘preliminary collection of papers for verification’, as well as to charge transit charges on cargo and individual passengers. At the same time, Armenian officials are required to "maintain physical presence in all border and customs facilities of Armenia", to make "sufficient decisions and customs clearances" and to carry out "migration control".

The joint message besides mentions "electronic submission and processing of documents" and calls for "different procedures for persons, vehicles and loads, including in the traffic between Azerbaijan and Nachichewan".
