Ekho Kavkaza: Georgia's Prime Minister denies the usage of "kamid" during the pacification of protests

Georgia's Prime Minister, Iraqi Kobachidze, confirmed that during the November–December 2024 protests, water utilized in water cannons actually contained a substance. At the same time, he again denied that it was a ‘kamid’ – a measurement described in the BBC investigation.

On 1 December, the BBC published the results of an investigation stating that chemical measures from planet War I could have been utilized during the suppression of anti-government protests in Georgia in 2024.

"Substance has indeed been added, most crucial – whether it was a banned substance or not," Kobachiga said on December 3 at a briefing in the Government Administration.
The Prime Minister stressed that the chemical "kamid" measurement referred to in BBC material was not only not utilized by the Ministry of the Interior, but was never purchased by the Ministry – besides during the United National Movement.

When asked by a writer whether he could regulation out the usage of "other prohibited substances with a circumstantial code", Kobachida replied:

"Probably the Ministry of Interior would check the kind of powder erstwhile purchased by Wano Merabiszwili (the Home Secretary of the United National Movement). But that's just my guess. It is better to wait for the results of the investigation (conducted by the State safety Service)".

When asked who would be liable if the acquisition of certain substances was confirmed, the Prime Minister replied that they would decide to do so – "depending on the facts. If it is possible to establish someone's responsibility, it is theoretically the work of Wano Merabiszwili."
