Georgia's abroad Ministry commented on developments in Venezuela, expressing hope that Caracas would retreat the designation of independency of the self-appointed republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"We are closely following developments in Venezuela, hoping that further processes will follow the best interests of the Venezuelan people. Given that the Venezuelan authorities have recognised the occupied regions of Georgia — Abkhazia and alleged South Ossetia — as independent states, which constitute a flagrant violation of global law, we hope that fresh events will lead to the withdrawal of this illegal decision, in accordance with Georgia's national interests and the principles of global law," says a message published on page X.
Venezuela, Nicaragua, Nauru and Syria, alongside Rosi, recognised the independency of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This decision was made by Hugo Chavez in 2009 and has not been amended since.
The change of power in Syria, despite the calls from Tbilisi, has so far not led to the withdrawal of the designation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
