The Georgian Parliament will consider a legislative initiative to ban LGBT marches and "other colored entities" - informed Szalwa Papuaszwila. According to the president of the legislative body, the initiative will be submitted for consideration by the Human Rights Committee.

The paper was published on Parliament's website. The initiative is written by Dodo Gugeszwili – the president of the “Protection of part of your homeland” association and 1 of the leaders of the armed group from the 1990s “Mchedrioni” (‘the Horsemen’).

The last LGBT march was held in Georgia in 2000— representatives of sexual minorities constantly study inability to exercise their right of assembly and expression. Under Georgian Dreams almost all attempts to organize public events by LGBTQ+ and their supporters ended in violence. So far, no organizer has been punished. all year, LGBT community representatives leave Georgia to search asylum in the countries of the European Union.

In 2024 Georgian Dreams approved the bill on "family values", prohibiting "propaganda LGBT" and sex change. The fresh government has been criticised by the European Union and human rights organisations.

Earlier, the authorities had promised not to ban the Equality March unless it was part of propaganda.
