"Education with the military" is an educational and defence programme whose main nonsubjective is to rise awareness of children and young people in the area of safety and defence, as well as to make basic civilian protection and civilian protection habits and skills and to behave in crisis situations.

Today the second edition of the project, prepared and implemented jointly by the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of National Education, started. As in the first installment, students from grades 1 to 7 of primary schools and grades 2 to 4 of secondary institutions participate (class 8 and first secondary schools have program classes in safety education).

RECLAMA

– In our voivodship specified lessons will be held in 65 primary and secondary schools. This initiative involves 37 instructors from 7 units of operational and territorial troops. Among them there are those who have already taught youth classes during the first edition, but there are besides fresh instructors who have undergone appropriate training and are ready to share their cognition – says Lieutenant Julia Rozworowska-Wolańska from the 8th Kujawsko-Pomorskie Territorial Defence Brigade, coordinator of the regional project.

Just as in the first edition, the curriculum includes 2 hours of explanation and 1 practice. And all of that under the watchful eye of trained soldiers. As part of the theoretical block, students learn about security, alerting, safety and rescue, as well as approaches to misinformation. During the practice, emphasis will be placed on issues of evacuation and calling for help, students will besides practice elements of circulatory respiration.

"Classes do not focus solely on military-wide subjects, we convey cognition in a much broader aspect. For example, we teach that safety besides means wearing a helmet while cycling or locking doors. We're besides talking about alerting due to the fact that last flood Unfortunately, she clearly showed that people do not know alarms, do not know what they mean and are incapable to respond to them properly. So it is good to pass on specified things as young people – adds Mr Rozworowska-Wolańska.

Like knowing about first aid. A applicable component of classes with students will be, for example, a call for aid from emergency number 112. – Many of us seem to think it's rather simple, and under emotion it's not always like that. There are people who pull a telephone out of their pocket, but alternatively of responding appropriately and calling for help, they like to evidence the event. Thus, we realise to young people that a fast call for help, a presentation of short and factual information, is most crucial in specified a situation – said Lt. Rozworowska-Wolańska.
Colonel Tomasz Gergelewicz of the Operations Centre of the Ministry of National Defence, didactician and author of the agenda of activities within the project, emphasizes that the large advantage of the training is that each of the soldiers conducting lessons has a large freedom to implement the program. The military did not impose a list of equipment utilized during meetings or the way in which training was conducted. – In the first edition, instructors took their own first-aid kits, gas masks to make the classes more attractive. They showed their children how storm matches work or fuel in their ankles. So all lesson was about vision, ingenuity and creativity of the soldier conducting the class – the officer emphasizes.

New in the second edition will be meetings with veterans in advanced schools, whose directors expressed specified a desire. Trained by the Centre for Veterinary Activities outside Borders, your soldiers will talk about serving on missions and answer questions of young people related to global cooperation, representing the state abroad and participating in abroad military operations.

The second installment of the task will end on 13 December.
