In consequence to the duties imposed by the USA on imports of steel and aluminium from the EU, The European Commission reported on Wednesday that the Union imposed a work of €26 billion on goods from the United States.
Starting this morning, the United States is applying 25% duties on steel and aluminium imports. We profoundly regret this measure. Customs are taxes. They are bad for business and worse for consumers
In a statement, the head of the KE Ursula von der Leyen stressed.
The European Union must act to defend consumers and business. The remedies we are taking present are strong but proportionate. Since the United States is applying US 28 billion dollars, we are responding to a €26 billion countermeasure

EU duties will enter into force on 1 April, full implemented from 13 April.
