On Good Friday there is strict fasting – it is simply a case of course and without discussion. But how's Saturday? The subject of eating meat that day is rather emotional. It's time to yet dispel all doubts!
"Can wedding guests fast while the groom is with them? They can't fast as long as the groom's home. But the time will come erstwhile they will take distant their groom, and then, on that day, they will fast" (Mk 2:19-20) – we read on the pages of the Gospel according to Saint Mark.
Our Lord, Jesus Christ, died for us on the cross on Good Friday. But besides the large Saturday, the day before the Resurrection, is simply a time erstwhile “the bridegroom” was not among the Bible’s guests, a metaphor of the faithful.
The Church so recommends giving up eating meat food besides on the large Saturday. However, this is not an order resulting from the provisions of the Codes of Canon Law, and the possible eating of meat on that day does not affect sin. This is contrary to the ancient – dating back to the second century – tradition of the Church, but not to Catholic Teaching.
Resisting from eating meat dishes not only on Good Friday, but besides on the large Saturday until Easter Eve allows us to experience the large Sunday better – the day commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the most crucial component of the past of salvation of humanity and our Faith. "If Christ has not risen, our teaching is in vain, your religion is besides vain" (1 Cor 15:14), wrote Saint Paul in the First Letter to the Corinthians.
